The polishing wheel cleans the rail as the loco movers along. This unit can work on DCC or DC track. It will automatically sense the voltage and start and stop as the wagon moves. The cleaning wheel can be replaced with a number of different cleaning wheels.

The fully functional, mobile N-rail grinder for all N-track and control systems has been specially developed to remove stuck oil and dirt residues on the rail. Even the finest dirt on the rail head can lead to considerable malfunctions.
By installing the innovative and reliable cleaning technology in a rail vehicle, it is also possible to easily clean particularly inaccessible areas of your track system such as tunnels, shadow stations and overhead track systems. The maintenance-free operating times of the rail vehicles can thus be significantly increased and a safe current collection from the rail is achieved.
The rail grinder is powered by the driving voltage and can be pulled or pushed by standard traction vehicles. He has no drive to move. The vehicle is equipped with a 4-point current consumption. The cleaning technology is powered by a long-lasting and maintenance-free bell armature motor (Faulhaber 1 ). The drive block is completely closed and thus optimally protected against contamination.
The innovative control electronics SSF-09 (automatic start / stop function) works motion-oriented. When the cart is moved on the powered track (pulled or pushed by a locomotive), the cleaning technology automatically turns on. If the moving, activated cleaning trolley comes to a standstill (eg signal stop), the cleaning technology switches off automatically.
The cleaning trolley can be used on analogue and digitally controlled systems. The accumulation station carried in the grinding carriage and charged via the track voltage buffers the motor of the cleaning technology when power is interrupted on the rail (eg due to soiling). This gives the rail grinding vehicle its cleaning effect even with short, current less track sections.
The high-speed, radially acting cleaning technology rotates over the rail head and can be adjusted with a height adjustment screw. Due to the arrangement of the bogies, the rail grinding wagon in the turns and points areas is particularly safe to run. A special curved linkage of the polishing blanks ensures optimum cleaning efficiency even on complicated routes.
The predominantly soft polishing materials also lie slightly around the rail head and thus clean the extremely critical inside
the profile head with the lowest possible static friction. The particularly good accessibility of the cleaning technique makes it very easy to change (renew) the polishing pad. Different materials are available for cleaning the tracks. As standard, the N-rail grinding trolley is equipped with felt blanks (Part No. 9417).
